This may look like a silly question as it may be conflating two different things together. But my question is what is more important to you and to people in general, Freedom and personal responsibility or Security and collective responsibility?
Freedom offers many advantages but also some disadvantages as some freedoms can be harmful towards some. Take the Covid-19 situation, freedom of movement can cause someone infected to transmit and infect someone else, may lead to death. But, freedom also offers multitudes of advantages when it comes to human rights and liberties. But with that comes a degree of personal responsibility that one has to have, to be able to be independent in life, despite the possible help offered by the surrounding community.
Security on the other hand is a bit different. What if you did not have freedom of speech and movement but you were guaranteed a job and food on the table? The compromise being you cannot criticize those in power or you cannot make contact with certain individuals.
Which is more important in general terms? Which is more important to you? Which helps a people thrive? Just a question that I can’t quite get my head around which is better, safety and compromise or dangerous freedom?
Looking forward to you answers
