Under paid or equally paid jobs?

I have been thinking about this for quite a while now.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in photography, a diploma in create media productions and a diploma in art and design. Now of course, it depends what job you have and what level of responsibilities are demanded of you. However, every single person I know who works in their related field of studies is extremely underpaid for the level of qualification and experience they have obtained.

My question is… Are we under paid or equally paid for the lifestyle and costs of living in Malta and why isn’t this topic mentioned ANYWHERE? Why isn’t there any talk about drastically improving our wages? Why does our government beat around the subject like it is not an issue yet keep costs of living and monthly taxes so high compared to the income?

I personally believe that the minimum wage of €4.25 p/hr, has not been updated in years to catch up with the current costs of living. Example: a yearly wage of €20.000, broken down monthly is as follows on the attachment.

What do you think? Should we find a way forward to speak out against this? Are there ways to enforce a correction with our wages and benchmark improvements for people with qualifications and experiences in their chosen fields?
